The Museum launched its new season with the opening of Belief + Doubt: Selections from the Francie Bishop Good and David Horvitz Collection. Guests had the first opportunity to view more than 70 works of contemporary art that are part of the museum’s extraordinary 100-work promised gift from David Horvitz, chairman of its board of governors and artist Francie Bishop Good, his wife and fellow board member.
With an emphasis on multi-cultural and women artists, the works provide an exceptional overview of contemporary art and include numerous pivotal works in the careers of such renowned artists as Cindy Sherman, Mickalene Thomas and Kara Walker. The exhibition runs through January 22, 2017, and is made possible with major support from the James L. Bildner Charitable Trust, Northern Trust and Sotheby’s.
