CELEBRATE APRIL IN PARIS AT NSU ART MUSEUM FORT LAUDERDALE

Special Roster of Events and Promotions during the Month of April

This spring, celebrate April in Paris in Fort Lauderdale. Throughout the month of April, NSU Art Museum Fort Lauderdale salutes the art, flavors and styles of the City of Light in conjunction with the exhibition Midnight in Paris & New York: 1890s – 1930s, William Glackens and His Contemporaries.

Featuring paintings, drawings, photography and decorative arts by leading American and European artists such as Eugène Atget, Brassai, William Glackens, André Kertesz, Henri de Toulouse- Lautrec, Alphonse Mucha, Pablo Picasso, John Sloan, Louis Comfort Tiffany and others, Midnight in Paris & New York provides a fascinating look at life during the turn of the 20th century and sets the stage for the Museum’s April in Paris celebration.

TASTE

Take a break in the Museum Café for delicious French menu selections including macarons, pastries, sandwiches and French rosé wine.  The Café is open daily 11 AM – 5 PM, with lunch served from 11:30 AM – 2:30 PM.  On Thursday, April 12, enjoy 2 for 1 specials on French rosé from 4 – 8 PM.

LEARN

Learn about Denis Diderot, France’s leading philosophe who embodied the spirit of the 18th-century’s Age of Reason and Enlightenment during a lecture on Tuesday, April 24 at 6 PM by David L. McNaron Ph.D., part of the Museum’s NSU Lecture Series.  Tickets are $10 (free for Museum members).  To RSVP visit nsuartmuseum.org or call 954-262-0258.

The Museum will feature an evening of free admission on Thursday, April 12 from 4 – 8 PM as part of its Starry Nights program presented by PNC Arts Alive!  At 6 PM a special French-language tour of the exhibition Midnight in Paris & New York will be led by Barbara Buhler Lynes, Ph. D., Sunny Kaufman Senior Curator.  A second French-language tour will be given on Sunday, April 22 at 3 PM.  Docent-led tours in English will be conducted every Friday and Saturday at 2 PM.
