Frozen Gestures

November 15, 2026 – April 11, 2027

The monumental exhibition focuses on the expressive characteristics of sculpture from abstract expressionism to today (in contrast to minimalism). The artists in this exhibition capture extreme physical states or seemingly suspend molten and malleable materials at the moment of their creation, resulting in truly magical transformations that contradict the conventional enduring properties of sculpture. Included in the exhibition are works by Lynda Bengalis, Willem de Kooning, John Chamberlain, Teresita Fernandez, Urs Fischer, Roy Lichtenstein, Elizabeth Murray, Will Ryman, Julian Schnabel, Lorna Simpson, David Smith, Frank Stella, Jean Tinguely, Franz West, Rachel Whiteread, and Kennedy Yanko, among others. Curated by Bonnie Clearwater, Director and Chief Curator.
