DESCRIPTION:Apply today for the Teen Art Council (TAC) at NSU Art Museum Fort Lauderdale! \nNew applications are now open for consideration to all rising Freshman through Junior grade level students entering the 2026 – 2027 school year. If you are interested in community engagement and supporting the arts\, we encourage you to apply. Previous applicants are encouraged to reapply! \nThe Teen Art Council (TAC) at NSU Art Museum Fort Lauderdale embraces teens and empowers peers within the museum space by providing programming and support that enhance leadership skills\, critical thinking\, and developmental milestones for an emerging professional. By fostering a designated\, incubated safe space for teens’ perspectives to convene\, NSU Art Museum initiates lifelong relationships with the teen demographic. \nThis program allows teens to have the opportunity to collaborate with peers to plan events\, investigate exhibitions\, and discover the inner workings of the museum. Our mission is to create spaces and programs for teen representation and bridge the gap between teenagers and NSU Art Museum. \n\n

DESCRIPTION:Inspired by the abstract paintings of Michelle Armas and Helen Frankenthaler\, wander through different approaches and techniques using watercolor painting and inks\, creating a colorful\, layered design. Activate play\, wonder\, and noticing through the intentional experimentation and exploration of working in watercolor. \nCreativity Exploration adult workshops promote the benefits of material exploration and the mind-to-body experience. “Research suggests that experiencing art and creativity\, even for a few minutes a day\, has tangible effects on our mental and physical health” (New York Times). In addition to producing a sense of well-being\, sessions expand participants’ perceptions of forms\, while increasing brain connectivity through visual and cognitive stimulation.
