Heading Home: The Tale of Team Israel is a David-and-Goliath story of Israel’s national baseball team as it competes for the first time in the World Baseball Classic. After years of crushing defeats, Israel finally ranked among the world’s best in 2017, with a roster that included many Jewish-American major leaguers with tenuous relationships to Judaism. The team’s odyssey takes it from Israel where it is hailed as a group of modern-day Maccabees, to the tournament in South Korea where it must debunk its players’ reputations as has-beens and wannabes. The players push themselves to unexpected heights representing Israel on the world stage.
