DESCRIPTION:Join Close to Home artist Richard Moreno for a live performance during Free First Thursday at NSU Art Museum Fort Lauderdale. \nDrawing from the sounds\, imagery\, and atmosphere of South Florida\, Moreno creates immersive works that blur the boundaries between sculpture\, installation\, music\, and performance. His practice brings together heavy metal\, swampy landscapes\, gothic imagery\, and experimental sound to create an experience that is as physical as it is auditory. \nFor this special performance\, Moreno will transform the museum space through sound and movement\, bringing the darker\, more visceral side of Close to Home to life. \nJoin us for an evening of music\, performance\, and art as we celebrate the closing days of Close to Home\, on view through October 4\, 2026.  \nThursday\, October 1\, 2026\n5:30 – 6 pm \n\n \n\nAbout the Artist \nRichard Moreno (b.1993) is an artist from Miami\, Florida. He received a BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2017 and an MFA from the Rhode Island School of Design in 2019. Inspired by the decks of cards created by artist Suzanne Treister\, imagine and design your own mixed-media deck of cards that can help shape your future actions\, aspirations\, and solutions to support your personal journey. \nCreativity Exploration adult workshops promote the benefits of material exploration and the mind-to-body experience. “Research suggests that experiencing art and creativity\, even for a few minutes a day\, has tangible effects on our mental and physical health” (New York Times).
