FEAR THE INVISIBLE
Kandy G. Lopez’s work explores constructed identities, celebrating the strength, power and confidence of individuals who live in urban, often economically disadvantaged environments. With an aim of educating, communicating and fostering discussion of topics often ignored in today’s multi-cultural society, her images create a personal and socially compelling visual vocabulary that investigates race, the human defense mechanism, visibility through fashion, and gentrification.
She holds an MFA in Painting from Florida Atlantic University and BFA and BS from the University of South Florida. Lopez is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Performance and Visual Arts at the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences at Nova Southeastern University.
