Dr. James Hicks is an art historian raised in central Virginia, now based in London. After graduating from James Madison University in 2001, Dr. Hicks continued his studies at the University of London and the University of Hertfordshire where he gained his Ph.D. His areas of interest and lecturing experience include British art history, European and American cultural history, and contemporary visual culture. He has worked extensively with leading London museums such as the Tate Modern, Tate Britain and the National Portrait Gallery, as well as at several American universities’ Semester in London programs and at Sotheby’s Institute of Art.
This program will be open to Museum Docents and participants of Friday’s A Sense of Pride: Thou Art Woman Discussion, which will be held at the Museum on Friday, January 11, noon-1:30 pm.
